What Would Dickens Write Today?
Charles Dickens is one of the greatest authors whose stories admire and move us to another world where there is another world and quite another reality. Most of his works are about children and their childhood and about difficult and unfair life of mankind .The heroes in his works struggle against the evil and injustice since early childhood, overcome through the hard and confused difficulties hoping to have fair and bright future in the near future. They struggle for their happiness and finally achieve their victory. I think if Dickens lived and worked in our days he would keep writing again about injustice, evil and unfairness. The heroes of his stories would be the children of the 21st century who (as the heroes in his story) also would be deprived of parents’ love. If once we had ever stopped and tried to pay attention to our surroundings, we should have noticed that the heroes of Dickens live around us. Many of them have no family and they are always overworked by people like Sickser and Bumbles. They are always victims of lie and injustice.
Have we ever thought how many Olivers are born every day and are taken to orphan homes? Yes, it is true that now there aren’t those dirty houses and suburbs but it’s all the same they are the same little orphans whose futures are controlled by other people. All of them need a little bit love and kindness. They also would like to wake up every morning and feel that they are in a safe and happy family. They also would like to attend schools and enjoy the life. But alas! Most of them like the heroes of Dickens fall under the influence of wicked people and become robbers, pickpockets and beggars and In that way destroy their life. Hundreds of children like those heroes have a wish kept deeply in their hearts and in their dreams ; “Would there be a kind man, a kind heart who will take them out of that dirty and hard life”. And like Mr Brownlon saved Oliver, perhaps we also would try to help them taking them out from the wrong life and show them the right way of the life.
I would like Dickens to live and work in our days. Perhaps he hadn’t that hard and difficult life and hadn’t to work since early childhood and would be worth of good and bright life but anyway, he would keep on writing for us for all the children of the world and would protect those blameless creatures who need great love and warmness despite of everything.
